Amid fast moving technological developments in core sectors such as finance, and the UK government’s new innovation-focused industrial strategy, corporate law firms are looking ahead to consider what skills their lawyers of the future will need.
A priority is to bring through a new generation who speak the language of clients – increasing numbers of whom are from science and technology backgrounds.
At the same time, data analysis skills look set to assume a premium as law firms themselves embrace technology – perhaps most notably artificial intelligence – to boost their efficiency and improve decision-making.
On the evening of Tuesday 16 January, we will be hearing from a collection of lawyers from various practice areas at the London headquarters of leading international law firm CMS about the changing demands of law and business. Among the speakers will be lawyers who studied STEM subjects before converting to law. They will share their experiences and discuss how their educational background has helped their careers.
After the panel discussion there will be drinks and networking with the speakers and a collection of CMS’s trainees and members of the firm's graduate recruitment team.
Apply to attend below. You’ll be asked to submit a CV and two questions for the panel. Please note that the details of those offered places will be shared with CMS’s graduate recruitment team.
